 Textbook:                     Management, (5th ed) by Daft, Dryden Press Publishers

 

Catalog Description:

Fundamentals of management underlying the solutions of problems of organization and operation of business enterprises covering the management process of planning, organizing, directing, and controlling.

Course Objective:

1.                Students will assimilate a review of the history of management concepts and recognize the interrelationship between business and social sciences and behavioral sciences in our democratic free enterprise society.

2.                Students will learn and be able to apply the basic principles of management (i.e. planning, organizing, leading and controlling).

3.                Students will learn and be able to apply the basic functions of management with an organizational systems framework with emphasis on leadership styles, communication, human relations, and goal oriented objectives.

 

METHOD OF INSTRUCTION:

1.                  Lecture

2.                  Class discussion of selected cases

3.                  Question and answer period

4.                  Outside reading and written reports

                                    Grade Scale:            A(90-100), B(80-89), C(70-79), D(60-69), F(59-below)

 

Policy on Make-up Exams:

Students must take tests as scheduled. Make-up exams for excused absences should be arranged with the instructor.  

 

College Attendance Policy:

Students who are absent from class more than one eighth of a course without the instructor’s permission shall be withdrawn. Please consult with class instructors for specific class attendance and grading policies.
