Medical Terminology 350, Dean Vaughn, DCM/Instructional Systems 1st
Edition, 1988. Catalog Description:
A study of medical terminology including prefixes, suffixes, and word
roots with an emphasis on spelling, pronunciation, definition, and usage. Course
Objectives:
The purpose of this course is to teach the meanings of 350 Latin and
Greek elements, or word parts. This knowledge of mastering the 350 elements in
this course will enable the student to interpret and understand more than eleven
thousand complex medical terms. This is the only course ever developed that
teaches how to learn and how to remember medical terminology. Method of Instruction:
Audio-visual, Workbook/Textbook, Quizzes, and Tests. Grading:

– 59% Policy on Make-up Exams: Students
must take tests as scheduled. There are 14 scheduled quizzes. There will be no
make-ups for quizzes. The two lowest quiz grades will be dropped. Make-up for
the mid-term exam for excused absences should be arranged with the instructor
prior to the next class meeting. Course Requirements:

all videos, workbook assignments, and exams. College
Attendance Policy:
Students who are absent from
class more than one-eighth of a
course without the instructor’s permission shall be withdrawn. Please consult
with class instructors for specific class attendance and grading policies. Three
tardies will be counted as an absence. Cell
Phones and Pagers:
The use of cell phones and pagers is strictly prohibited. Cell phones and
audible pagers must be turned off upon entering the classroom. In case of
emergency, family members may contact the college switchboard at 769-1551 to
leave an emergency message for you. If the college switchboard is closed,
contact the FSU police at 872-4750, extension 311. If there are extenuating
circumstances, you must speak with the instructor prior to the beginning
of class regarding the circumstance. Notes:
This
course is designated as an associate of science, non-transfer course; however,
some universities will accept this credit. Check with your academic program
