ACADEMIC PROGRAMS--A.A. Degrees

The Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree is the freshman and sophomore years of a four-year bachelor's degree in a business or computer science major. The A.A. degrees in the Business Division are specifically designed for a student who plans to transfer as a junior to a Florida public university. Students are encouraged to be familiar with the admissions requirements at the university they plan to attend.

A.A. Degree programs in Pre-Business Administration, Pre-Computer Science,
Pre-Economics for Business, and Pre-Business Teacher Education are offered in the Business Division.

See the GCCC General Catalog for specific course requirements.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS--A.S. Degrees

Associate in Science (A.S.) degrees are designed to provide the student with an opportunity for preparation to enter a specialized field of employment or an opportunity for the employed student to acquire additional proficiency in the respective area of study. A.S. degrees are provided for students who do not plan to transfer to a state university.

The Business Division offers many highly specialized two-year Associate in Science programs in Accounting Technology, Business Administration and Management, Computer Programming and Applications, Culinary Management, Hospitality Management, Marketing Management, and Office Systems Technology. Students should note that the Business Administration and Management (BUS-AS) Degree is an Associate in Science to Bachelor's in Science articulated program that transfers to the following universities: FAMU, FAU, FGCU, FIU, FSU, UF, UNF, UWF.

See the GCCC General Catalog for specific course requirements

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS--A.A.S. Degrees

Associate in Applied Science programs are designed to prepare students for entry into employment requiring specialized skills. When you decide to follow an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree program, you are not necessarily preparing yourself for transfer to a state university. You should understand that your decision would result in your earning a degree, which should lead to a productive career. If you later decide to attend a university, you may be required to do additional work at the freshman or sophomore level.

The Business Division offers only one (2-year) Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree in Business Administration and Management. The purpose of this program is to prepare students for immediate employment in the field of business administration and management by providing training for both first-time job seekers and experienced employees who wish to advance in their careers. Students are encouraged to discuss career plans and seek advising assistance from the Business Division.

See the GCCC General Catalog for specific course requirements.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS--Technical Certificate Programs

The Business Division also offers one-year programs designed to provide the student with an opportunity for preparation to enter a specialized field of employment or an opportunity for the employed student to acquire additional proficiency.

Technical certificate programs offered by the Business Division are Accounting Applications, Business Data Processing, and Office Systems Specialist.
