Textbook:                   Business Mathematics, (10th  Edition) by Miller, Salzman & Clendenen, Addison Wesley Longman Publishing 

Catalog Description:
   
                                 A study of the practical application of mathematics to business transactions and
                                    calculations, such as percentage, interest, discounts, markups, and commissions,
                                    pricing, payrolls, depreciation, and inventory turnover and costing. Emphasis is given
                                    to short methods of calculation and verification.

Course Objective:
   
                                 1.    Develop an understanding and the application of skills required for selected
                                           mathematical concepts encountered in business situations
                                    2.       Increase the student’s competency in fundamental and arithmetic skills through
                                           practical application

Method of Instruction:
   
                                 Lectures and interactive participation by the student in the resolution of problems and
                                    exercises

Grading:
                                   A(90-100),  B(80-89),  C(70-79),  D(60-69),  F(59-below)

Course Requirements:
                                  
This course will be taught using a systematic approach to instruction—that is,
                                   each assignment builds on previous assignments. If you do half-hearted work in
                                   Chapter 1, you may have difficulty in the next chapter and be lost in following
                                    chapter. It is very important that you master each unit of instruction. Attendance
                                    in class and completion of chapter homework and exercises is the key to
                                    successful completion of the course.  

College Attendance Policy:
                                   
Students who are absent from class more than one eighth of a course without the
                                    instructor’s permission shall be withdrawn. Three (3) tardies to class will have the
                                    equivalence of one (1) absence.

Notes:                         This course is not designated as university transfer course in some major areas.
